Wood, rattan, wool and cotton each bring their own character to a DUZZI piece.

Wood — From Sketch to Story

Every wooden piece begins with an idea — usually, a pencil.

Each design starts in our workshop, where proportion, function and the way a child may interact with the piece are explored before the sketch becomes a precise digital design.

Components are precision-cut, then return to the workbench for sanding, assembly and finishing by hand. We select wood for stability, durability and the way it responds to the making process.

HANDWOVEN IN VIETNAM

Rattan — Grown to be Shaped

Strong enough to build with. Flexible enough to weave.

Rattan is a climbing palm known for its strength, flexibility and relatively rapid growth. Its long stems can be bent and woven into curved forms while remaining lightweight and durable.

Our rattan pieces are shaped, woven and finished by hand in Vietnam, allowing the natural character of the material — and the maker's hand — to remain visible.

NEW ZEALAND WOOL · HAND FELTED IN NEPAL

Wool — From Fiber to Form

Loose fibers transformed by hand.

Our felt collection begins with New Zealand wool and is made by hand in Nepal. Through water, soap, pressure and movement, loose wool fibers gradually bind together and are shaped into three-dimensional forms.

The wool used in our collection is colored with AZO-free dyes, and the handmade process naturally creates subtle differences between individual pieces.

KNITTED IN PERU

Cotton — Knitted into Character

Our knitted characters begin with Peruvian Tangüis cotton.

Tangüis cotton is valued for its strength, resilience and soft feel. Each character is created through knitting, with its form developing gradually row by row.

The Tangüis cotton yarn used for our dolls is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and has been tested for harmful substances according to the requirements of the standard.

NATURAL VARIATIONS

No two pieces are exactly alike.

Wood grain changes. Rattan varies in tone and diameter. Felted surfaces and knitted forms carry small differences created by natural materials and human hands.

We do not see these differences as imperfections — they are part of the character of each piece.

MATERIALS & SAFETY

What touches the material matters too.

Finishes, dyes, yarns and other components are selected according to the requirements of each product. We work with our manufacturing partners to obtain relevant material documentation and submit finished products to applicable testing and compliance processes where required.

We choose them because each material behaves differently, feels different in the hand and brings something to a design that an imitation cannot fully reproduce.
