The People Behind DUZZI
From first sketch to final piece, DUZZI pieces take shape through a careful making process — in our workshop and in small workshops around the world.
We believe in understanding how things are made, not only how they look. Each piece develops slowly, working with natural materials and skilled makers who share our approach to thoughtful making and fair, responsible working conditions.
The workshops we collaborate with are chosen carefully — partners who value craftsmanship, respect for materials, and fair treatment of the people involved in the making.
This way of working allows us to keep things simple — focusing on materials, craft and the people behind each piece.
Our Workshop
Our workshop in Israel is where we make our wooden pieces and where many DUZZI designs begin — through sketches, prototypes and small adjustments before being brought to life by skilled makers around the world.
Working directly with materials keeps us closely connected to the making process, allowing us to refine each design with care as it develops from an initial idea into a finished piece.
Rattan Craft
Our rattan pieces are made in Vietnam, where hand weaving is part of a long-standing craft tradition.
Production combines workshop-based processes with home-based weaving. Some stages take place in small workshops, while many woven parts are completed by experienced weavers working from their homes, allowing makers — many of them women — to remain close to their villages while continuing skilled craft work.
The woven pieces return to the workshop for drying, finishing and quality control before final preparation.
This way of working connects traditional hand-weaving skills with the structure and consistency of modern production.
Felt Making
Our felt pieces are made in Nepal, where handmade wool felt has been practiced for generations and remains an important craft today.
The workshops we collaborate with specialize in handmade felt production, working with natural wool and traditional wet-felting techniques. Felt making is a slow and physical process, where loose fibers are shaped by hand into solid forms through water, soap and repeated movement.
This work provides stable and fairly paid employment for many artisans, including a large group of women. Working in this way allows traditional skills to remain a living practice, while supporting long-term craftsmanship built on experience and care.
Hand Knitting
Our dolls are made in Peru, where textile work remains an important part of everyday craftsmanship.
The workshops we collaborate with specialize in hand knitting, using natural yarns to create detailed textile forms. Each piece is carefully knitted by hand, row by row, gradually building its shape with patience and precision.
Working with experienced textile artisans allows complex handmade pieces to be produced with consistency and care. This approach connects traditional textile knowledge with contemporary design while preserving the character of handmade work.
